NAIDOC Week Celebration

Our school community came together in celebration for NAIDOC Week, embracing the theme of "Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud and Proud" with a beautiful smoking ceremony to kick things off.

A highlight was the powerful display of some of our staff and students coming together to participate in Culture and join in with the dancing in their ceremonial dance groups. The ‘Sea of Hands’ symbolised our collective commitment to reconciliation and respect. It was wonderful to see everyone come together in prayer at the liturgy where students brought symbols that represent the culture here.

The following day, we continued the celebration with a series of engaging rotational activities. Students immersed themselves by exploring their creativity through face and rock painting, crafting unique bracelets, and participating in Murrinhpatha reading. Many of our local staff, along with Jac, made damper on the fire for all to enjoy, smothered in butter and our local honey produced here at school. Each activity offered a hands-on experience that fostered a sense of school spirit. NAIDOC Week served as a powerful reminder that even small actions contribute to great change, and together, we build a stronger, more inclusive future.
