The Wadeye Literature Production Centre (LPC) started in 1979 to support the bilingual education program at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Thamarrurr Catholic College in Wadeye. The bilingual program began in 1978. The school continues to provide a bilingual program teaching in Murrinhpatha and English.

The purpose of the LPC is to make teaching resources in support of the Murrinhpatha language maintenance program and the Religious Education program at the school. This includes the production of books, posters, iBooks, animations and other resources which support the teaching of culture, language, literacy as well as other subject areas. The LPC keeps these resources safe for future generations.

These resources reflect the lives of our students and help students to know truthfully and hold on to things about their country, kin, dances, songs, totems and dreaming stories. These resources enable students to learn through Murrinhpatha at school and support them to become literate in their first language first. These resources also allow students to pursue their faith through a language that they think in and understand.

Our people are strong when our culture is strong. The LPC works together with the community, educators and students to create new resources. This ensures that the school curriculum reflects a local world-view and creates a sense of responsibility for everyone in the community to support the education of our children.
