Children aged between 3.5 and 6 years of age can attend Preschool. Preschool is based in the Little Children’s Building - Mamay Purrkpurrk da Wuwup Pigunu.
At Preschool we use the national Early Years Learning Framework to support and extend children’s learning and development.
In accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework, the Preschool program enables each child’s learning in the five outcomes:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Children are confident and involved learners
- Children are effective communicators
The program takes into account children’s strengths, capabilities, culture, interests and experiences. Our preschool is bilingual, with both Murrinhpatha and English being taught and spoken. This promotes inclusive education, language diversity and cultural learning through the combined experiences of educators, parents and children.
Our program of play based activities is designed to foster every child’s wellbeing, growth development and learning through:
- interactive activities
- building experiences
- familiar daily routines
- Catholic prayer and celebrations
- Murrinhpatha language
We are committed to making a difference in the local community by fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of each and every person and inspiring hope and a positive vision for life in them. We promote inclusion and understanding through our Catholic faith and values. Our teaching and learning practices are informed by contemporary research, are age appropriate and have a strong focus on community and culture.
Our Preschool recognises quality integrated teaching and learning practices, pastoral care, and wellbeing as fundamental elements in creating welcoming environments where young minds flourish. Children’s learning growth and development is nurtured through pedagogy and programs that improve the skills of cooperation, engagement and innovation. Opportunities to learn through play, inquiry and experience allow children to reach their full potential, building a foundation for lifelong learning.
